226ERS Fructose Energy Gel

The High Fructose Gel provides 55 g of carbohydrates and 250 mg of sodium per gel, coming from maltodextrin and fructose, in a 10:8 ratio. This formula is based on "multiple transportable carbohydrates"; studies* have shown that during prolonged exercise, consuming carbohydrates absorbed in the intestine through various transporters is the only way to increase the rate of assimilation and oxidation of exogenous carbohydrates beyond 60 g/hour.*To this end, research confirms that the ideal is to combine different sources of carbohydrates. We have chosen, on one hand, maltodextrin, which allows us to control molecular weight/osmolarity and, on the other hand, fructose of course.MALTODEXTRINE: It is absorbed in the intestine by the SLGT1 cotransporter and is converted into glucose to enter the cells and provide them with energy more quickly. Maltodextrin has a high glycaemic index, allowing for a quick increase of glucose in the blood and releasing energy instantly. Rapid gastric emptying due to a high molecular weight and low osmolarity, which promotes digestion and reduces gastrointestinal side effects.FRUCTOSE: It is absorbed in the intestine using the GLUT5 transporters, which differ from those that absorb other carbohydrates. The absorbed fructose travels from the intestine to the liver via GLUT2 transporters and replenishes the liver glycogen stores lost during intense physical exercise. This results in a steady and gradual release of energy from increased absorption. This is why the combination of the two, maltodextrin and fructose, allows for digesting and assimilating a high amount of carbohydrates per hour while minimizing any potential gastric issues.
