Our Gilbert Kinetica page showcases the range of rugby shoes that share their name with the brand's match ball. Its Pro Power version is aimed at powerful players who also need to move quickly: featuring a soft sock-like fit, an integrated strap that locks in the foot, and a BioFrame sole with eight detachable studs, suitable for scrums as well as breakthroughs.
A name of a ball, at your feet.
The Kinetica Pro Power stands out primarily for its fit: a lightweight upper that hugs the foot like a sock, moulding to the foot without any pressure points. To ensure that this flexibility doesn't come at the cost of support, Gilbert has integrated a strap system that locks the foot onto the sole. When entering contact, the foot doesn't float in the shoe: the grip remains stable and the push is transferred directly to the ground. This combination targets players who carry the ball against the defence, especially powerful blind side and centres, as well as the most agile forwards in the pack.

Under the Kinetica, the BioFrame sole with eight studs aims to achieve two objectives that are rarely brought together. At the back, its structure stabilises the heel, essential in scrums and mauls where the forward must remain anchored. At the front, two TPU studs lighten the overall weight and provide traction for breaks, tackles, and accelerations. Gilbert presents it as a sole that combines the stability required in scrums with the dynamics needed to break through the line. The shoe comes with a wrench for changing the metal studs as they wear out.
A sock-like upper quickly conforms to the foot, but it requires some care. It should be broken in over two or three training sessions before wearing it in a match, while adjusting the strap and lacing to fit the shape of the foot. After a session in the rain, mud should be removed with a soft brush rather than a jet, which soaks the upper, then the shoe should be left open to dry, away from a radiator that would harden the synthetic materials. Before each match, check the tightening of the metal studs: a loosened stud damages the threading of the sole and can get lost in a pile-up.
Good deals can be found in good deals, promotions, clearance, sales, Black Friday. The new arrivals showcase the latest models. The key sales events of the year follow a stable order: the Black Friday at the end of autumn, the holiday season, winter sales, the spring French Days, then the summer sales and back-to-school season.
Gilbert has taken the name from its premium match ball, hand-stitched and approved by World Rugby. The shoe does not share its technology with the ball but shares the same positioning: gear designed for competition.
Yes: its BioFrame sole with eight studs provides the necessary stability in scrums. Its soft fit will particularly appeal to mobile props; a player with very wide feet, or who prefers a stiffer upper, may compare it with the Power from the Sidestep family.
It is designed for powerful players: a fullback who relies on pure speed would prefer a shoe with six studs, which is lighter. A robust centre or winger, who often seeks contact, will benefit from its support and strap.
Your usual size, measured at the end of the day with your match socks. The soft upper adapts to the foot, so there's no need to go up a size; you should leave about half a centimetre in front of the big toe and adjust the fit with the strap.
With its metal screw-in studs, it is designed for natural and soft grass. Most synthetic pitches prohibit this type of stud, which damages the fibres and restricts the foot: a shoe with a moulded sole is recommended instead.
