Our selection Copa brings together adidas leather upper shoes from the Copa Pure range, in Elite, Pro, League and Club levels, with FG moulded studs or SG detachable studs. Inheriting from a model designed in 1979, they appeal to strikers, playmakers and defenders who want to feel the ball under their feet.
The feel of leather, at the feet of strikers.
The lineage goes back to the Copa Mundial, launched by adidas in 1979 and made in Scheinfeld, Germany. Its name evokes the global tournament held in Spain in 1982, for which it was designed. Its kangaroo leather upper, foldable tongue over the laces, and classic studded sole have changed very little over several decades, making it a cult model. The Copa Pure, introduced at the end of 2022, replaces the Copa Sense and continues this heritage with a more modern construction, without compromising on the leather that defines the range.

The Copa Pure ditches kangaroo leather for a Fusionskin cow leather upper, padded at the front of the foot: the stitching creates small cushions that soften the contact with the ball and provide a more rounded strike. This leather is seamlessly connected to a Primeknit mesh collar, which wraps around the ankle and stabilises the heel. At its launch, adidas announced a weight saving of around fifty grams compared to the Copa Sense. For a rugby kicker, this soft leather helps to control the precision of a conversion or a high kick.
The Elite version features the best materials and the most advanced sole, intended for a player who trains several times a week. The Pro retains the essence with a slightly simpler construction. The League and Club use more synthetic materials and a mixed FG/MG sole, which is more robust and suitable for beginners and the varied playing fields of rugby schools. In terms of soles, SG models with screw-in studs are best suited for winter rugby, whereas molded studs slip on a soggy pitch.
Good bargains can be found in the good deals, promotions, clearance, sales, and Black Friday. The new arrivals showcase the latest models. Key times of the year follow a steady pattern: the Black Friday at the end of autumn, the holiday season, the winter sales, the French Days in spring, followed by summer sales and back-to-school.
Its leather upper conforms to the shape of the foot and offers a wide and even contact surface. Kickers find a direct feel for the ball, which is useful for gauging the strength of a long penalty or the height of a high kick.
That's not its role: its soft upper and narrow sole offer little protection in scrums and rucks. Props and hookers need a wide sole with screw-in studs and lateral support that only a shoe designed for forwards provides.
Remove mud with a soft brush immediately after the session, stuff the shoe with paper, and let it dry away from a radiator. A leather cream applied from time to time prevents the upper from cracking.
Yes, the leather softens and adapts to the foot after a few sessions. It's better to choose your exact size rather than one size up, or else you risk having your foot float once the shoe is broken in.
MG, for multi-ground, refers to a versatile sole that can be used on dry grass as well as synthetic turf. When combined with FG, it is suitable for young players alternating training grounds throughout the week.
