Our selection Predator brings together the adidas control and strike shoe, in Elite, Pro, League and Club versions, with or without a foldable tongue, for adults and children, in FG, AG or SG sole. Its rubber wings on the upper have made it, for decades, one of the favourite shoes of strikers and playmakers.
The precision of footplay.
The Predator was released in 1994, based on a prototype conceived by Australian Craig Johnston. While training children, he came up with the idea of sticking rubber bumps on the top of the shoe to better grip the ball. adidas took up the concept, and the rubber fins became the signature of the line. In rugby, the Predator was adopted by many kickers, starting with Jonny Wilkinson, world champion with England in 2003. adidas even made a rugby version, the Predator Malice, which has now been replaced by the RS15.

The current models feature Strikeskin technology: rubber fins placed on the strike zone, which increase grip between the shoe and the ball. The versions marked FT, for fold-over tongue, include the fold-over tongue on the laces, made of synthetic suede, a nod to the Predator from the nineties; a strap keeps it in place. Underneath, the Controlframe sole, lightweight and equipped with an external heel counter, combines grip and stability. On the Elite version, these elements are the most advanced; the Pro and the League take up its spirit.
A kicker playing in winter on heavy pitches chooses a Predator SG, with screw-in studs, which provides stability to the pushing leg at the moment of the kick. On dry ground, a version FG with moulded studs is sufficient and is more comfortable. The AG version is reserved for synthetic pitches. For a young kicker, the League or the Club, thicker and more forgiving, better absorb repeated goal-kicking sessions. The Predator, on the other hand, offers little lateral protection: it is suitable for halves, centres, and backs, but less so for players involved in the confrontation phases.
Good deals can be found in the good deals, promotions, clearance, sales, Black Friday. The new arrivals showcase the latest models. The key events of the year follow a stable order: Black Friday in late autumn, the end-of-year festivities, winter sales, the French Days in spring, then the summer sales and back-to-school.
Yes, the English fly-half wore Predator for a long time, including during his victory in the World Cup in 2003, capped by his famous drop goal in the final. He helped make this shoe a reference among kickers.
They hold up well to contact with the ball, but repeated friction on abrasive synthetic surfaces can dull them. Cleaning with warm water and a soft brush, without solvents, helps maintain their grip for longer.
Yes, if it is perfectly fitted: its elastic collar replaces the lacing and frees up a smooth striking surface. A narrow foot or a player who likes to adjust tightness might prefer a laced version.
Yes, the League and the Club come in children's sizes, with a versatile sole suitable for both grass and synthetic pitches. A child who loves kicking will find a comfortable shoe, to be chosen in their exact size.
